Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 small onion (finely diced)
- 5 cloves of garlic (finely diced)
- Two (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes. I use San Marzano or Tutto Rosso.
- ½ cup of freshly and finely grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped basil
- 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped parsley
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
Directions
- In a large sauce pan, combine the olive oil and the garlic and onion (cook on low/medium heat until golden brown on edges and fragrant)
- Next, add the cans of crushed tomatoes and stir. Cook on low heat for about 5-10 minutes (until sauce starts to boil).
- Add the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until the cheese has melted into the sauce.
- Now add the basil, parsley, salt, and pepper. Continue to allow the sauce to boil on medium/low heat for another 5-10 minutes.
- Enjoy!

I love a simple sauce, this one looks fantastic too!
THANK YOU! I agree..the photo definetly makes this one testify of it’s YUMMINESS..(is that a word?) it is now!
This is amazing! I can almost smell it. And I’m making it now! If only I had fresh basil.
I could drink this by the glassful. Would it be a bad thing to add some chillis/chilli powder to it to give it some heat?

i made this sauce last night and blended it… i don’t see that in the recipe but it made the texture much nicer, imo. other than that it was pretty good!
