Sometimes the best recipes are the ones that you find in the most unexpected places. Last summer I was introduced to this spicy 4 bean salad at a women’s meeting at our church. I love going to potlucks and gatherings where everyone brings something because it’s a great way to try other people’s recipes – and there are some amazing home cooks out there! This recipe comes from Kathy S., an awesome lady from our church, and it’s probably the tastiest bean salad I’ve ever eaten! Thanks for sharing your recipe, Kathy!

*Recipe has been slightly adapted from the original to include fresh lime juice and cilantro.

Spicy 4 Bean Salad


  1. In a small mixing bowl, mix dressing together by combining vinegar, olive oil, salt, pepper, salsa and sugar cane (sweetener is optional). 
  2. In a separate mixing bowl, combine kidney beans, pinto beans, garbanzo beans, green beans, red onion and green pepper, cilantro and lime juice.
  3. Pour dressing over the bean mixture and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour before serving. Enjoy!

*Note: to make this super spicy…try a HOT 5 alarm salsa! Be aware, it might clear your nasal passages right out.
