10 Healthy Breakfasts in 10 minutes or Less

In the interest of saving time and space, I decided to dismantle the 40 Day Breakfast Challenge post series and create a new post highlighting 10 quick and healthy breakfasts. These breakfasts can be made in 10 minutes or less. There are tons of research studies showing why breakfast is important, but I would like to leave you with what I believe are the top 10 reasons.

  1. HEALTHY EATING HABITS – It is well established that people who eat breakfast consume less fat and cholesterol and more vitamins, minerals, and fiber than people who skip breakfast.
  2. WEIGHT MANAGEMENT – the National Weight Control Registry reported that people who eat breakfast have an easier time managing their weight than people who skip breakfast.
  3. PORTION CONTROL – In general, people who eat breakfast have an easier time controlling their caloric intake throughout the day than those who don’t.
  4. REDUCED RISK OF DIABETES – A report by the American Heart Association showed that people who eat breakfast are significantly less likely to develop diabetes than people who skip breakfast.
  5. MORE ENERGY – A healthy breakfast can provide your body with the nutrients that you need to stay energized for several hours.
  6. FITNESS – It is believed that people who eat breakfast have more energy and therefore may participate in more physical activity than people who skip breakfast.
  7. FOCUS – According to the American Dietetic Association, people who eat breakfast have an easier time focusing and are more productive throughout the morning than people who skip breakfast.
  8. MEMORY – Eating breakfast improves memory and learning.
  9. BETTER MOOD – Skipping breakfast can make you feel grumpy and fatigued throughout the day. Taking just 10 minutes to eat something in the morning can really improve your mood.
  10. BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL – Help your children to develop healthy eating habits at an early age by encouraging them to eat breakfast. If they see you eating breakfast, they are more likely to eat breakfast too.

  4. @ Sarah….I agree. Ezekiel breads/products are so heavenly. No pun intended. :)

Thanks for the 10 minutes or less breakfast ideas! Much more interesting than my presidents choice peanut butter protein bar!!

  15. Kate says:

My fast breakfast is to slice a hard boiled egg on toast with a dab of mayo. Lower calorie than egg salad. My somewhat fast (but requires advance prep) breakfast that I eat MOST often is Soaked Muesli, really common in Hawaii where my family lives. Pour a few cups of old fashioned oats into a large bowl, add various other kinds of granola and dried fruits (I prefer dried cranberries) and nuts, and then add in an entire container of greek yogurt (0 fat) and enough milk to make it soupy. I put this in the fridge over night and it absorbs the yogurt and milk and becomes a thick tapioca-like pudding of goodness. A quick scoop of this into a cup is very hearty and filling, with loads of fiber and protein. I like it without much sweetener, but, in Hawaii they slice bananas and strawberries over it and drizzle it with maple syrup or honey. It’s always always so rich you can’t eat more than a scoop, and yet, very healthy at the same time. Travels well to work and keeps in the fridge all week.

Thanx for the new ideas!! I’m a great fan of both the Ezekiel and Genesis breads…all flavors. But since they don’t make bagels, I toast their HB buns & spread real butter (opt) and a DELISH mix of equal parts PLAIN Greek yogurt and Simply Fruit spread, any flavor. This is a gluten free, no-processed-sugar healthy breakfast! And just one slice or 1/2 bun is plenty, very filling!! This way I avoid all the sugared or artificially sweetened yogurts. YUM!!

  26. Martha Anne says:

I absolutely love 100 g of greek plain yogurt, 1 cup of raspberries and 1/3 cup of granola-almond mix cereal! It’s the best way to get the morning started and it has such great flavour!

  27. Bonnie says:

I like steel cut oatmeal mixed with Greek yogurt and sliced strawberries. You can add nuts too if you wish. Some mini chocolate chips make it more like dessert!

  28. Emmmma says:

  34. Amy says:

Love all the ideas! I’ve tried the toast with boiled eggs and grapefruit wedge. Yesterday, I put some skim milk mozzarella cheese on the bread before toasting. Then I had some fresh spinach leaves over that, then the eggs (no yolk)with salt, pepper and parsley. Only about 163 calories. Today, I did the same except for cheese I spread avocado on the toast, and basil instead of parsley. Only about 129 calories. If I had a tomato to slice, that would’ve made a nice addition also.

  35. Love these ideas!
And love that you are trying to give people healthy options!
Check out this EASY & HEALTHY muffin…
less than two min in the microwave! It’s AWESOME!
